How I Cleared Up My Skin!

This is too good not to share! The results are amazing and is great for all skin types.

My skin is very sensitive and I have tried different treatments to improve my skin from acne creams, to facials, and face washes. I would end up with very dried out, red sometimes even burned skin.

I recently learned about oil cleansing and it has been a life changer! The basic concept of oil cleansing is to balance and cleanse your skin. Cleansing your skin with natural oils will dissolve the oil and impurities that has penetrated your pores. Steam will then open your pores, thus allowing oil and impurities that were trapped to be removed. It is simply the process of dissolving oils with oils.

Now let’s get started:

1. Massage a quarter amount size of oil (coconut, olive oil, hazelnut) into your skin. I personally use a blend of olive oil and coconut oil. (You can find this the baking section of your grocery store).

2. Let the oil absorb into your skin for about 10 min.

3. Place a clean washcloth under very hot water and ring out the excess water. Place the hot washcloth over your face to allow the steam to open your pores. Leave the washcloth on your face between 1-2 min.

4. After 1-2 min. Remove the washcloth from your face and use it to remove the oil from your face.

Your skin should feel cleansed and refreshed. Repeat this process 4-5x a week.

* I personally saw result within the first week. The redness I had went away and the breakouts are gone.  My skin has been less oily  and I have a clearer complexion.

Gardening Tips & Tricks

Spring is all about fresh picked flowers, planting a garden and enjoying the warmer rays. One of the items on my Spring to-do list this year is to plant a garden. I recently learned about few tips and tricks and wanted to share them with you!

Gardening Tip #1

Regular weed killer is very harmful to the environment, pets and people. A safer and much cheaper alternative is apple cider vinegar. Yes, apple cider vinegar! Pour apple cider vinegar directly onto your weeds. The acidity of the vinegar will get rid of your weeds and still keep your soil healthy!

Gardening Tip #2

Reuse and Recycle! The next time you steam or boil vegetables, save the water, let it cool and use it to water your potted plants. The water is filled with added nutrients and is said to be a natural fertilizer that provides your plants with more stable and steady growth.

Gardening Tip #3

Did you know that plants love coffee?! Coffee grounds can be used as garden compost which releases soil-enriching minerals. Coffee grounds can also be used as garden mulch.

Dreams to Reality - Brittney's Story from Frosting to Success

1. What made you want to start the Frosting Company®?

My sister, Gabrielle was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 10 (today she is a college student and founder of Inspiring Honey Productions). Because of her experience we became more aware of our environment from what we eat to what we put onto our skin. One day my sister and I were reading the ingredients on our favorite bath and beauty products and we were appalled to learn what was in them. You know the saying “you are what you eat” well you are what you put onto your skin too. So we stared making our own lotions and bath fizzie (bath bombs) and giving them out to our friends and family. One thing led to another and now our products are available online and in stores across the country. We also donate a portion of our proceeds to find a cure for childhood cancer.

2. What influenced you to become an entrepreneur?

I have always been an entrepreneur at heart. For at least five generations back in my family have been entrepreneurs and I guess you could say I got the entrepreneurial gene. Growing up I was more interest in playing with my cash register than I was in playing with my dollhouse. In high school and into my early years of college I ran my own Ebay business and was a five star top rated seller. Growing up I new that someday I wanted to start my own business. I could never imagined the magnitude of what my dream would eventually become.

3. How did you come up with the name “FrostingCompany®"?

One of our first products my sister and I started making in our kitchen was body butter. (Body butter is similar to lotion. Lotion contains water where body body contains a blend of oils and butters such as cocoa butter, shea butter, mango butter etc.) We wanted to come up with a name for the business and a batch of body butter we recently made looked and smelled just like vanilla cake frosting! From that moment the Frosting Company® was born. Our slogan is “Enriching Your Skin with Nature’s Sweetness” ® because we use natural, organic and plant based ingredients in all of our products.

4. What is something you like to do?

Something you may not know about me is that I like to cook. You can find me watching cooking shows and trying new recipes. Cooking is something you can experience with all five senses from sight, smell, hearing it cook, touching and of course taste! Some people put on music or go for a run when they are stressed, me on the other hand I like to cook. It's incredible how a few simple ingredients and a blend of spices can transform into something amazing.

5. What is some of the best advice you received?

The best advice I received is to not be afraid because you don’t know if you don’t try. Fear is something that we all deal with pretty much on a daily basis. I’m learning that it is ok to step outside of my comfort zone and try new things.
